Jan started his interest with photography in 1970.
His first camera was the Russian camera Zenith,
and a Lomo Lubitel camera.
Later on Jan uses a Olympus OM10, and the Olympus OM4 titanium.
It quickly became apparent that it wasn't going to be
just a passing phase – his passion continuing on
with a craving for knowledge
and the urge to learn all aspects of photography.
Jan set about teaching himself the technique
and art of photography.
Learning from the local photoclub, magazines,
books and e-learning by internet, he is completely self-taught.
With his love for the natural world and the diversity of The Netherlands
which had already featured hugely as his inspiration –
it became a natural step for Jan to focus
his lens on the landscape and its surroundings.
But also the tiny little subjects such as flowers and insects.
Jan now uses the Canon digital SLR, and the special Lensbaby optics.
