Member Rules

*Rules apply all social media accounts*

  1. Please do not download or edit any photo that isn't yours, you must get permission from the Photographer and must give that photographer credit for the photo. If any person is caught they will be warned, if the offense is repeated it will result in being banned from Snap the Planet social media sites and organized pages.
  2. When posting a photo to the Closed Group, please indicate if you don't want CC, otherwise all photos posted will be subject to CC in a respectful manner. Let's be open to CC; no matter what level of photographer that we are, we can all benefit from other photographic eyes. All members are expected to give CC in a kind and "constructive" manner - we're all friends here.
  3. No profanities, name calling, or negative words towards any member will be tolerated under any circumstance. If something like this occurs, either in our public forum or in a Private Message from one member to another, notify one of the SA's and the problem will be rectified.
  4. Absolutely NO STOLEN PHOTOS this is something all photographers can agree with. If anyone is caught stealing photos, they will be immediately banned from all Span the Planet social media and affiliates.
  5. There is to be absolutely no sales done on any of these pages. Senior Administrators will discuss the future of sales when the time comes. As of now no sales.
  6. In the Span the Planet Closed Group, please keep your posts to 4 PHOTOS per day. This will allow us to give the most attention and best attention to the photos submitted. This policy will be strictly enforced, and anyone who posts more than 4 PHOTOS in one day will be asked to delete extra photos.
  7. Nude or pornographic images will automatically be deleted without any discussion, if any member or follower is caught persistently violating Span the Planet rules they will be removed and banned from all Span the Planet social media and affiliated pages.
  8. Unlimited photos can be uploaded to the website on a given day. We prefer that you first upload a photo to the website and then share it back to the closed group, that way our website is populated with your work. If you choose to watermark, they must be placed below, left, right or center of photo. Watermarks must be sized smaller in order not to distract the composition of your photos. If possible please use lighter or transparent watermarks.
  9. Outside of challenges, this is not a competition to see who is the best. Let’s keep things upbeat and try to help each other as best as we can in all things. Become part of the family!
  10. By posting your photos in our group, you give Span the Planet permission to use said shots for our FB Daily Features group. All credit remains with you, we simply put a small logo on the corner of the shot to denote it as one of our "Best Of". Your shots will not be used in any other way without your expressed consent.

WEBSITE RATING INSTRUCTIONS***

When on the website and rating photographs, please keep the following in mind: Please always be fair and kind, our system is anonymous, but still monitored by our Webmaster, so we will find out if someone is giving out unfair ratings (super low scores across the board in an effort to bump their own photo up the ranks, for example) and we will ask that person to cease the behavior or, if the problem persists, to leave the group. We use a Bayesian Scale, which basically means that scores will be averaged and a single high or low outlier will not effect a shot all that much. Be fair, but also be kind, and if you give out a 1, 2 or a 3, maybe write a comment that suggests what the person could do to fix the photograph. Here is our ratings scale:

1 Star - Needs Major Improvement, 2 Stars - Needs Improvement, 3 Stars - Average, 4 Stars - Good, 5 Stars - Great, Little to No Improvement Needed.

Thank You for Joining!

We hope you enjoy Snap the Planet. Post your shots to our website and share them to your personal FB pages so that your friends and family can see what you are a part of. We are growing, and any of the above rules are subject to change.
