Cartagena Condor Cruising 2 by

Posted in Floral and Fauna

The brisk midday, tropical winds ran into the highest hill in Cartagena, Columbia, and the vertical stone walls of Castillo de San Felipe creating excellent updrafts for the local condors to cruise effortlessly. The condor in the background lost lift and flapped back into the column.

Tom, you are most welcome. I was pleasantly surprised that I could capture these magnificent soaring birds in midday, hot tropical city. They were maybe 100-200 feet away and almost level since I was standing on the castle parapet. Fortunately, as stated in the other description, I can wide scan with an open left eye which practically drags the view finder right eye to place the bird in the center. These are 3 best shots of several dozen.
I have to say thank you for this post. It's a rare treat to see a modern capture of these magnificent Birds. Thank you again .
