Just a nice walk around Cardiff and you can find many colourful plants and flowers

Thought I'd go for something different than my usual flower shots

My trip to Spain resulted in me taking more photos of plants and flowers than actual buildings and sites...who can even tell I went to Spain then?

Nice to have a contrast sometimes right?

Not usually an event photographer but fireworks were just too colourful to resist! CC would be great!

Quite hypnotic in my eyes, reminds me of the Mandelbrot set...anyone else think so?

Who goes outside when it rains to take photos? If you do, then great, if you don't then you're missing out! droplets of water give such an interesting effect!

Another studio shot, I think I'm becoming more familiar with this form of photography

The view from Thornhill in Cardiff/Wales at night, very tranquil and somewhat lonely place to relax

Totally fascinated with the ancient forest in Wales lately.
Posted to Autumn about 3309 days ago, 1 comment(s)
Well I've been snapping away at a certain location in Wales for some time now, as the trees turn colour and the leaves start to fall. I think that this forest is putting on a beautiful display.
Posted to Autumn about 3309 days ago, 0 comment(s)
Not usually my type of subject in photography, but It suits the atmosphere i experienced today.

The sky was a bright blue and the sun shone through the trees and brought out many different colours of the plants. It was cold, but only in the shade, a sublte cold and the blackbirds of the forest flew over and into the leaves, this was a very peaceful day and to do it justice, all you had to do was walk slowly and admire.

Walking in the ancient forests of Wales, along the pathway with my dog and my Nikon camera in my hand on a beautiful sunny day I walk past quite a few people along the way with their dogs. besides the path there stands many different types of trees which have changed colour due to the season. I stopped and stood under a tree whose leaves were a bright red, I had never seen leaves this beautiful and red before, so as natural I take a few photos and compliment the tree as much as possible in my photographs.
My dog shoots off as he's just spotted another dog coming up the path, this is usual so I didn't become distracted, the other dog dashed over to greet my dog. The owner of the dog stops just beside the tree I'm standing underneath, he looks to be about mid 50's maybe even 60, with a subtle Italian accent but spoke perfect English, he greets my dog with the happiest voice I've ever heard. He looks up at the tree and says "Isn't nature beautiful?" to which I smiled at him and replied "Yeah, I've never seen the leaves so red before"
He continues to look, and says "See, nature can provide you with the best sights, I came here a month ago and the leaves were a bright pink, it was absolutely beautiful" at no point did he stop smiling, behind him walks his other dog, who looks quite old too, the man wished me a good day and continued to walk up the path.

My words probably didn't do this conversation justice, but let me tell you why it was important to me today. The way this guy smiled and spoke, was that of someone who knows the value of everyday life, the way he walked, right down to the way he looked at things, he wasn't in a rush, he greeted everyone with a smile, even the dogs received more of a greeting then the people, the way he spoke was so innocent and kind, the Elderly really are so important, This guy brightened up my day, I felt I didn't even need my camera after that! .

It's a type of kindness that I love to encounter, and what could be a better place for it, so I hope this photograph does the scene justice :)

A bit of selective colour never hurt anyone did it? on a lovely day here, with a nice bit of flare!

Well a nice scenery doesn't go unnoticed on a good day in Wales!

My dog posing for the camera on the best of days in Wales :)
Posted to Nature about 3323 days ago, 0 comment(s)
So as I lay there on the ground among the dead leaves, in direct sunlight, I grab my camera and point it at the ground, I decide not to look at what im about to shoot...I just let it happen...I release the shutter and am presented with this image, speaks to me in a way and represents just how calm and peaceful that day really was :)

Saw this little dude at Cefn Onn Park in Wales...he secretly knew i was taking photos and decided to pose :)

Okay before anyone catches me out on the type of reptile this is....I don't know what it is! so my natural instinct is to name it a lizard...if it is indeed a lizard...then i was testing you and I knew all along! caught this little dude in Spain on the wall!

A peaceful reflection, taken on a nice day in Wales....the sun actually came out that day...

Well, took me ages but finally captured a falling droplet! never been so excited to capture water doing what it does best...fall to the ground!

Who knew that certain petals gave this look when the sun beams through it? If you didn't know...then you do now!

A very dramatic photo of a Welsh cricket/Grasshopper. These are the sort of insects I go looking for in the garden.

Does anyone else like the tone of this picture? it was a slightly cold evening in Quito/ Ecuador and I caught this Humming Bird mid-flight. Deciding on this shade of colour due to the atmosphere of the city and the way I felt (Which was a huge sense of distance from home and a new world)

If a dragonfly isn't speeding around then they're taking a long needed break, which is exactly what I like due to how still they stay! caught this little dude in the Cloud Forest of Ecuador
Posted to Wildlife about 3335 days ago, 0 comment(s)
Well this little guy decided to take a break from flying around, and without him knowing it...I was there waiting with my camera, no bird escapes!

Sadly my original RAW photo is buried somewhere in my hard drive so upon request I will find it!

This little dude took me ages to catch! they are so fast and constantly moving, was certainly a challenge to capture him on camera - nonetheless it was very fun to chase for 30mins!
Posted to Nature about 3336 days ago, 0 comment(s)
Well...we all want to see the beautiful face of a stick insect at some point of our lives, so here it is! He was loving every second of this photo-shoot. on the other hand this was taken here in Wales at Roath Park, definitely not the easiest little guy to find!
Posted to Nature about 3336 days ago, 0 comment(s)
Ever been so shocked because someone has just shoved a camera in your face?...this dude knows that feeling all too well...I personally think if he makes such a loud noise in the garden then he deserves to be hunted down ready for a photoshoot.....ladies and gentlemen...here is a shocked cricket for y'all!
Posted to Wildlife about 3337 days ago, 0 comment(s)
This guy was pretty cool to capture out in Ecuador, as his feathers were like sequins, and they were of a very cold tone, he was amoung the fastest to capture and certainly put up a challenge
Posted to Wildlife about 3337 days ago, 1 comment(s)
What's nicer to see in the jungle then the insects having a little catch-up? journeying through the leaves and vegetation to discover that these little guys have taken the time out of their day to relax and enjoy some time together - for the people who are less interested in this manifested story another interesting part about this photo is the transparent wings! a few locals called these butterflies the "Glass-winged butterflies" because you can see right into the background right behind them...not sure if the other insects of the forest minded their little catch up, as I'm sure they were probably being watched.. :)

Even though the tag gives the animal away, if you'd like to play the guessing game then go ahead and decide what animals eye this is (If it is an animal ;)
Taken here in Wales - Roath Park

Okay before anyone asks...this is at a bird show in Ecuador, if that makes the photo a little less impressive then I apologise...to myself for not having a long enough lens to capture the a wild one! but I thought that this pose for the bird is quite an iconic american image if you think about it ... hope you do.

Well for ages I had been trying to capture some squirrels on camera, but like humming birds, they were always too fast...so I lured them...in the less evil way of putting that...with quavers crisps, then they were in my control and so i captured as many photos as I liked...proud moments

This little dude appeared in my cabin during my stay in the Amazon Rainforest. At first he was a shadow when I opened the door, I was sort of worried it was a massive bird eating spider, but soon after using the flashlight I saw the green pupils in his eyes shrink into a lovely pattern, So what better opportunity did I have to capture the frog?
Posted to Nature about 3339 days ago, 0 comment(s)
During my time in the Amazon (And even before I went) my aim was to capture a Humming Bird on camera, so when I arrived at the cloud forest and saw millions of them I thought this would be the easiest task ever...I was wrong, as these guys wouldn't sit still! always moving faster then a squirrel on coffee! eventually having my camera mounted on the tripod with my 300mm lens sat still looking at one place...a Humming bird landed right on the branch I was looking at, I had exactly less than a second to click the shutter before it would fly away...so this was a lucky shot that for-filled my aim for the holiday.

Taken at 11pm in Ecuador Cotopaxi region, first time that I have really experimented with Astro-photography, so being my first picture I was kind of impressed and the result spurred on a passion for the night sky for when I returned to Wales.
