I had an amazing experience on Friday, I tracked down and followed a herd of wild horses and was eventually accepted into the group. I spent the entire afternoon walking with them in the foothills of the Alberta Rockies surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery Alberta has to offer, this was a once in a lifetime experience to be surrounded by wild horses and move with them in their natural habitat.

Took this while out with one of my photography meetup groups. Thought I'd get a few of them also getting shots of, and from, the bridge.

Buskers can plant themselves anywhere downtown. Where is there a better chance at a few dollars than in the financial district?

Some of the older architecture still around downtown among all the really new buildings

NW C-Train station very early on a winter morning

Calgary isn't a large city (1.2M) and we have a long winter so we don't see the number of street people that other cities have. Life is tough for those that are here.

Calgary is built for exercise. We have miles and miles of paths specifically for biking, walking, jogging. Consequently you'll see a lot of people on the move, all the time.

Taken with my iPhone because that's all I had with me. A very cold November day with a lot of ice fog in the air.

Would you believe this was taken in the middle of a residential area?

Winter ice breaking up in the spring in downtown Calgary

Taken from the 16th floor of another building. It was a real challenge to eliminate indoor reflections as it was taken through a window, behind a blind, with a jacket over my head and camera.

Although this is art in Downtown Calgary, I've recently learned it has a practical purpose, too. There is a very strong venturi effect between the buildings and this sculpture is actually designed to break up the winds and keep it from blowing out windows.

It was a very hot summer day and a lot of people enjoyed being on or near the Bow River.

Another perspective of the Calgary Peace Bridge. Bicycles in the middle, people on each side. Great design.

I happened to be driving by looking for something to put this gorgeous sunset into perspective. The new Mormon Temple in NW Calgary is an impressive architectural work anyway so I got the two together.

Here's an abstract view of the Bow Building in Calgary, Alberta

This is the Bow Building in Calgary. Recent, and currently the tallest building in town. That's a very large wire sculpture of a human head in the foreground.

Here's a perspective I haven't seen anywhere else. This bridge has been photographed so much that it's a challenge to do something different.

This is the most common view of the Calgary Peace Bridge, looking across the river and towards downtown, taken at night.

A very cold scene from the Dog Park in Calgary Alberta
Posted to Landscape about 3577 days ago, 0 comment(s)
I take my dogs out every day and I've been taking my camera with me. I came across this scene and had to hurry to get it before the dogs ran into it to see what was so interesting.

I pulled the focus of this shot to the right with lighting, this little girl just out of focus was in all the third barrel shot (this is the barrel the horses explode with power to make the run home), I shot over 500 images that day and didn't notice her at first until post processing, the more I saw her, the more I could see the story behind the picture, the focus will soon be on this little cowgirl because one day she is going to win it all ......

McDougall Church at Morley, Alberta, was built in 1875 by Reverend George McDougall. It had long been the desire of George McDougall to open a mission among the Stoney-Nakoda and Blackfoot people of southern Alberta. Numerous factors had, up to that time, prevented a missionary effort, but by the early 1870s, McDougall felt the time was right. The Morley mission would not only serve the Aboriginal people, but also afford an opportunity to establish a more permanent relationship with the Blackfoot Nation.

The gorgeous Alberta Falls, just outside of Estes Park in the Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. It's about a half hour to 45 minute hike over fairly easy terrain, and it's so worth it.
