Vanderhoof B.C. ,,, many thousands of swans stop over on the Nechako River here in the spring.
the noise was incredibly loud and we could hear the swans long before we could see them when my friend and i
arrived just before sunrise.

One of two large silos on a farm north of Prince George, the silos are a sign that you are getting close
to home when coming in from the north.

These roses were on display during a quilt show in Vanderhoof B.C. July 2015
i thought they looked even better in B & W than they did in their original
pale yellow colour.

A quilt show held July 2015 in Vanderhoof , B. C.
I thought this display was so charming and lended itself
to a black and white edit very well.

The wild ponies of Chincoteague - they stand at between 12 and 13 hands tall, are stocky with short legs and big round bellies. Their manes are thick (and full of briars). They graze all day on the salt marsh grasses of Assateague Island and, therefore, must drink twice as much water as a normal horse - hence the fat, bloated bellies. The Chincoteague Pony became an official registered breed in 1994. These guys were very allusive on Sat. when the weather was nice. These pictures were captured in the pouring rain, early in the day. The ponies sheltered in a wooded area that had a nature trail for people to walk in hopes of seeing the ponies on the marsh. They fooled us. I guess they just thought it would be easier to stand on the trail saying, "here we are, come view us".

This is one shot from a senior portrait shoot. She wanted to have her field hockey stick in one of the shots so we went on the field near the scoreboard and this is the result. My favorite shot of the session.

The National D Day Memorial is in Bedford, VA, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley. You may wonder why Bedford. Bedford, VA suffered the highest per capita losses in the D Day invasion at Normandy on June 6, 1944. This memorial was constructed to honor all those who lost their lives. I struggled with which pictures to share (since I could only share 4). If you ever have the opportunity, go see it. I cannot express how moving it is. The water in the pool has jets that are set to go off and replicate the bullets hitting the water. The sound is impactful to say the very least.

Virginia is steep in history from the birth of our nation through the war between the states and Richmond is no exception. This is a picture from Hollywood Cemetery, the burial place of two United States Presidents, the President of the Confederacy (Jefferson Davis), 6 Governors of Virginia, Jeb Stuart, George Pickett, John Randolph and more than 18,000 confederate soldiers (3,000 of whom were brought back from Gettysburg).

In a crooked little town, they were lost and never found
Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves... on the ground
Run away before you drown, or the streets will beat you down
Fallen leaves, fallen leaves, fallen leaves... on the ground
