Used south facing picture window with bright afternoon sunlight as sole light source. Extremely high ISO 12800 and open aperture (f/4.5) to blow out light and hide tree, porch posts, and parked car in background. Tried to manually focus on leading lattice work near center but was fooled by average of front and rear lattices, true image focus is on the plane of the stem.

My wife, Jane, on our treadmill passes the time reading a book. Light source is from nearby north facing, sliding glass door. Vignette added post to evenly tone edges and match outfit.

Experimenting with off camera, bounced flash to light backup members of lounge act in Wheelhouse Lounge aboard Coral Princess.

Face seems a bit hot in this off camera, wireless flash shot. While on cruise was experimenting with new flash unit in many environments. The flash was placed about 15 feet away from and below this violinist and her duet partner.

Layer masked to highlight the "star", desaturated and faded the background layer.

used a a 3 stop ND filter to get a slow shutter speed to capture the motion blur.

Had placed flash about 20 feet away at ground level and reflecting off ship's wall to judge effect and practice with wireless, off camera firing.
