Hiya, my name is Jan Silversides. I actively pursued photography roughly about 5 years ago. It's been a natural order of progression, this journey. I feel that it's what was I was destined to be...a photographer. My actual first paying job was such a learning experience, not a true horror story, in a sense where as other might have experienced but the how-tos, the what to expects...well, I digress.
I'm largely self-taught but I have had many teachers and mentors along the way. I have an image hanging in a gallery in Bareclona, Spain at the Ubiquography headquarters, a dream of mine came true via see|me , where one of my photos was on a billboard in Times Square and I've won several awards on Viewbug and am a curator there as well. Currently, 10 of my images have been selected by Getty Images to hang in an gallery sponsored with EyeEm and are available for purchase. I've recently sold 3 photos via Getty Images. I have been studying Photography courses through an online school since May, 2017

Lastly, I live in Detroit, Michigan.

Petoskey stone is a rock and a fossil, often pebble-shaped, that is composed of a fossilized rugose coral, Hexagonaria percarinata. ... Petoskey stones are found in the Gravel Point Formation of the Traverse Group. They are fragments of a coral reef that was originally deposited during the Devonian

I realise that I haven't posted for a couple days for my 365 Day project. I have shot images but I felt that they were subpar. This is my Day 4 submission.

Whilst waiting at the car dealership today for service work on my car, I downloaded the latest film and lens from Hipstamatic. I was sitting at one end of this counter and shot the other end. I like the result.

This very cheeky squirrel had shooed the birds away and proceeded to eat THEIR food! I snapped a couple of shots then he/she decided to leave. Camera-shy, I guess.

My dog-niece, Lillyanne is so chill. My niece put a bow on Lilly's head. Of course, I had to capture the moment!

My sister hosted Christmas dinner and she downsized her tree this year. I've always liked her front room/parlour. Very cozy and great spot for the tree by the fireplace.

When I snapped this photo, I felt it was Ho hum but then looking at it again...much later, I decided that I would desaturate and now, I like it.

I woke up to some very dramatic clouds this morning. We had a dusting of snow overnight and the clouds, floating in the sky this morning, are most def snow clouds! Hoping for a white Christmas.

Meads Mill is a favourite spot for many. There's an old gatehouse and a small waterfall. It's where I practice long exposures.

Going through my photo gallery and I found this shot of Savannah and her daddy. What makes this such a perfect image to me...is the fact, Savannah's daddy is not her biological parent. You'd never have guessed from the emotions expressed by both.
