Just happened to be chatting online with a few members of this group at 2am this morning, and I suddenly had this rash urge to set my alarm for 'stupid o'clock'

So just a little over two hours later, found me ankle deep in the freezing cold North Sea (and yes my boots leak), but results like this make the sacrifices all worth it
:-)

The camera has been gathering dust for far too long, I'm heading back to photoland

A rather poignant shot this

What you see here is the last bastion of steel making on Teesside, this blast furnace has been here for the last 100 years and news has now been confirmed that it will shut with the loss of over 2000 jobs on site and countless numbers as a knock on effect

Around a century ago there where 99 blast furnaces along this river, all producing steel that built the world, with this final closure it brings a history of 170 years of steel making in Teesside to an end

I stood mesmerised watching a 'wall of water' slowly creeping across the estuary towards me
When it hit, it was a deluge of biblical proportions

I kind of got in trouble for this one. Too close to the tracks they said. It was worth it!

Yet another 4am trip to the coast saw a real battle of the elements, as the sunrise competed with the constant rain
alas the rain won out, and the sun went back to bed, but I did manage to catch this ribbon of red across a local coastal landmark
