Banana Launch

Long Exposure
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carries satellites from Launch Complex 40 in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The name comes from my viewing location for the launch, the Banana River. Exposure time was 176 seconds, ISO100 at aperture f/9. Lens was a Tamron 16-28mm f/2.8 @ 16mm. Shot in bulb mode with a remote release, so the shutter opened as the rocket started to fire and then closed when I was fairly confident it was going to be near the edge of the frame. (March 1, 2015)

Thanks guys! The arc is the light from the burning rocket. The shape is in an arc because the rocket was carrying a satellite into orbit (communications for Turkmenistan, of all things). I was located almost due south of the launch pad with the rocket heading east.
