Picture is worth a thousand words!

This horse was really shy and a bit nervous of me. I kept talking to it in soothing tones to try and stop it running off if I got too close. However, I concede this is far too close but I had to take the shot when I could.

In this centenary week I would llke to offer a tribute to the often overlooked casualties of that great conflict

I don't come across horses very often plus, it's not doing anything exciting compared with the typical horse shots on here. However, it's a starting point for next time I come across one. :)

I had an amazing experience on Friday, I tracked down and followed a herd of wild horses and was eventually accepted into the group. I spent the entire afternoon walking with them in the foothills of the Alberta Rockies surrounded by some of the most breathtaking scenery Alberta has to offer, this was a once in a lifetime experience to be surrounded by wild horses and move with them in their natural habitat.

Shot on my Canon G16 compact when out on a dog walk. Shot into the light with a bit of underexposure to bring out the spray and white horses on the wave tops. Another reminder that the 'best camera' is whatever one you have with you at the time.

Stopped to watch some deer in the sage. Noticed the horses, as they started towards me. The black certainly was in a hurry to get some petting.

Retraining of Racehorses is a charity that does like the name says....these Racehorses would be disposed of otherwise. They organise the selling off of these old Racehorse thoroughbreds and their Retraining. I was lucky enough to be asked to photograph the training session. Unfortunately the light was low and it was difficult to get good quality action shots. It was an eye-opener to see how they train not only the horses but also the riders :)

There is a wisdom in the horse that can be understood beyond the use of words...feelings and emotions are exchanged with expression and body language.

This shot was taken at the local Cal Poly Royal Rodeo in San Luis Obispo, CA. Lovely horse and a few cowboys all doing what they do while I did what I do.
