We traveled from Fairbanks, Alaska, to Denali National Park. With upgrade we had a 2nd story view of the Alaska wilderness from these upperlevel seats through the almost floor to floor windows.

Immature Bald Eagle, spitting out the hair of a dead deer or elk, as it was digging in the snow for a meal.

Nature is not always pretty and nice. It can be ugly at times. Animals kill and eat other animals.. it is how nature is.

We all have dark roads inside of us -
places where the inevitable horizon
has no purchase on our psyches,
and we lay flat on these cold paths
looking up at a sky that tells us
to close our eyes
to defy what may be coming
to remember that getting up is the beginning

Have been making Golden Rocky Mountain road trips over last several years. This is from the longer gravel road entrance to North Clear Creek Falls at the Rio Grande headwaters area. The bluff in the background is of volcanic origins and a similar stratum creates the vertical drop for the nearby falls. some post work to compensate for midday bright sun, also, used a low ISO and polarizing filter to start compensation.

When you're off the map and off the grid, little signs and arrows are especially important for navigation. In this case, a small sign pointing us to our designated route had been plastered with various stickers, causing me to miss a crucial turn.

Driving by I couldn't help but lean out the window for a shot of this sky! This is where I LIVE!!!
This is RIGHT after some of the heaviest rain I have seen here in some time. Made for dangerous driving conditions but my hubs is a sensible driver!
Course the rain only lasted about four minutes.

Lost on the road to the Emerald City, running through childhood nightmares

Darker than my usual images.

This is Devil's Den in historic Gettysburg Pennsylvania! I was not intending to stop here on this day but as the sun rose above the clouds beams of light came popping through shining down on this historic place of battle when two sides clashed for three days July 1 -july 3 1863 leaving 51,000 brave soldiers dead! As I photographed the light I could not help but think how the sun might be warming the souls of the deceased .

One more with the Holga 120 on Kodak Portra 400 B/W. The Holga 120 only shoots at 1/100 at either f/11 or f/8. This was shot at f/11 with a ND 8 filter held over the lens. Cropped in post for composition.

This was taken the long way back from Las Cruces N.M., to Albuquerque. This shot is in-between Bingham and Socorro N.M.

This shot was taken while driving. I couldn't have asked for better settings that day.

I kind of got in trouble for this one. Too close to the tracks they said. It was worth it!
