So you plan a shot, you've thought about for ages. Staying on a small island called the Calf of Man, helping with Voluntary work. Night time shot, M, tripod, headlight, redlight, remote etc..Full Moon ordered, and it came out from behind a bank of clouds at just the right time. Unfortunately, because of the exposed nature of lighthouses it was extremely windy. Had to put my weight on the tripod to hold steady. Despite that, the stars do look a tad blurred. I know this is not a perfect picture, but good practice, in pitch darkness. Nothing is ever perfect :)

Taken from a tower window overlooking Niagara Falls. The lights are Buffalo NY and the bright high building is a Casino. The moon was peaking through a cloud.

Try as he might, Mr Moon is too bright to blend in. But he gives it his best shot.

The moon sets in winter in the exact place of the summer sunset. I knew this from science class but this is the first time I actually saw it happen.

Two shot stacking was done here as I was in a hurry outside and didn't mess with my settings.

Once again, I practiced on a "tolerant" subject....our rescue, Moonlight. She'll be with us 3 years, this November. Moonlight took the iPhone falling on her like a boss! Pet photography is not more forte but I do like to try.

The Enlight app has so many amazing tutorials on how to "Enlight" your smart phone images. I spent most of the morning learning the technique to creat pop art.

Taken north of Richmond, Michigan in the late morning. This Cemetery gave great foreground to the picture and the moon was added in to help set the tone.

This was shot around 6:30am on 28/9/15. The moon was moving so fast, it had completely disappeared about five minutes after I'd taken this.

You can see a slight shadow to the moon as the eclipse was starting. Due to horrendous cloud cover that night, this is the clearest shot I could capture.

I've reached a frustrating point where no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to improve my moon shots. So, I thought I would try something different instead.

Moonlight was rescued by us in 2013 and she's had many issues but now, her biggest one is the fact I'm always trying to take her picture! She was very obliging this day and I took advantage of it.

This is not a great photo, it's mediocre at best. But it's a composite from a wobbly tripod and a moon that's as rare as a calendar.

Normally I choose to shoot at the beach during the "golden" or "blue" hours, but I found this particular scene irresistible. The sand and sea foam had me. I shot low for perspective and depth to showcase the waves crashing on the sand.

A prime example why you should always have a camera with you
I have been wanting to get a shot like this for years, and just happened to look up as I was getting into the car after work one morning, and saw the contrail approaching, a quick mental calculation realised that it would pass very close to the moon

Out came the camera, and click
:-)

Moon setting, as the sun rises, on the Garden of the Gods in Manitou Springs, CO.

Taken on a cold morning in January, 2014, with my daughter. We set the alarm for 4AM to beat the sunrise. Next time, we'll take hot chocolate with us.
