It's been a while since I've shared any of my "horse show" shots, so I thought I would throw up this little candid of a rider getting a pep talk before her "go" in a trail class.

My heart wasn't up to going inside the park, so I hung out on the other side of the water with my sweet doggie, Sophie Sue, taking photos of the Ferris wheel and listening to everyone laughing.

During the Thanksgiving weekend, my brother and I decided to do the "opt out" thing. Instead of hitting the Malls, we went hiking. It was a windy and bitter cold day, but the hike in wasn't too bad. Once we got there, I did not feel the cold any more. I was too busy being in the moment. The thing that made this hike even more special, was I was able to hike with my brother. He lives in Denver, and is also a Photographer, so this was a real treat for me.

A compilation of about 128 images with a few removed due to aircraft. A chilly (at 7 degrees celcius) but super fun experience. F4 30s ISO 800

We were showing my in-laws the beauty of Michigan. We took them through Whiting Forest. They looked so cute together, that I had to capture the moment.

When you're off the map and off the grid, little signs and arrows are especially important for navigation. In this case, a small sign pointing us to our designated route had been plastered with various stickers, causing me to miss a crucial turn.

The Trail Ahead sculpture always makes a good foreground for sunsets and lightning photos.

North of Jal, NM there is a sculpture titled "The Trail Ahead..." that depicts the homesteaders who founded the town. At first glance it looks like a real cattle drive going on. The artist that created it is Brian Norwood, a resident of Jal and accomplished artist. The cowboy figures are also facsimiles of real ranchers in the area. This photo was chosen to be on a postcard for the Jal Chamber of Commerce.

You have to earn this view - it's quite a hike to make your way to this feature, starting at around 9K elevation, and going up from there. Rocky Mountain National Park.
