Managed to salvage this rose bush and almost missed the opportunity to photograph the floral world in my own backyard. Allowed the rose bushes to go wild over the last couple years; last fall did major pruning and results are satisfactory for the recovery.
Here, with the late afternoon bright summer sun backlighting the single last rosebud of the year applied diffuse, reflected filler flash to bring out the front petal colors while maintaining the translucence from the sunlight.

I'd been on a countryside walk but didn't see anything that really caught my eye. As I was getting into the car, I noticed a splash of orange and went to take a better look. I was really surprised to see this slightly scruffy and rather windswept but still lovely poppy, almost hidden amongst the tall grass.

This rose's outer petals are really showing its age. The middle is still just as beautiful though. For me, this really supports the view that 'beauty comes from within'. :)

As we approach the birthday of a beautiful young lady who was taken from this world due to senseless violence and a system that will ignore things at the cost of other, I can not help but do something to remember her. Straight out of cellphone. Spotted this cluster of yellow wildflowers along walking trail beside Highline Canal, Aurora, CO. My daughter and son-in-law had a rule of no stopping on their power walks, I did not follow the rule.

This photo was shot in the morning about 9.30 am in a garden. The angular sunlight coming through the red flower was giving a beautiful glow due to hollowness. While I was clicking the picture a honey bee came flying to suck the sweetness and got captured in this perfect position after few clicks.
