A fortuitous picture taken in northern Michigan, while pulled over on a small back road.

The early morning sun is rising behind me, is being reflected off the closest office building, is being reflected off office building windows just to my left, and is finally revealed as the dappled pattern on the windows and wall of the original building.
This was taken with my cellphone camera at a stop sign near Cherry Creek in Glendale, CO.

As I viewed my images from the incredible weekend that I had, this particular image really stood out for me. It was the last image I took, before leaving the Alvord Desert in Oregon. We had only gotten about 3 hrs of sleep, but it was so worth getting up for. As I looked at the image, the clouds looked like a Phoenix rising up from the dry desert earth. The "Phoenix" is a symbol of a renewal or rebirth. It is a reminder to me, that no matter how far we fall, or how bad things get.... We all have the strength to rise again, and come out even stronger than we were!!

in 1914 and is still in use today.

Often woke at or before dawn on Panama Canal cruise. This morning, a full day at sea, was blessed with a double rainbow arch in the ocean cumulus clouds from the rising sun.

One of my favorite places in the world is Lake Waccamaw, NC. This place is home, it is peace, it is solitude, it is family, it is happiness. I was blessed to capture this magnificent gift from God this past week.

The moon sets in winter in the exact place of the summer sunset. I knew this from science class but this is the first time I actually saw it happen.

Two shot stacking was done here as I was in a hurry outside and didn't mess with my settings.

Taking photos of the Sun either it rises or or it sets down its always fascinates me on how it add emotions to the photos..

I am looking at using this as background for an advertising sheet. The goal is to generate photo session appointments in similar photo-collages of motorcycles, classic, muscle, and low rider cars, and off road vehicles. The shots were taken in 2 sessions; one late night to capture something before the operators left in the morning; 2nd in early morning sunlight as sun crested the mountain ridges to the east. Sunrise over the mountain to light the fog with a pink pretty glow. Usually this view is lackluster, but this morning view was splendid!

This is Devil's Den in historic Gettysburg Pennsylvania! I was not intending to stop here on this day but as the sun rose above the clouds beams of light came popping through shining down on this historic place of battle when two sides clashed for three days July 1 -july 3 1863 leaving 51,000 brave soldiers dead! As I photographed the light I could not help but think how the sun might be warming the souls of the deceased .

Sunrise. When you get the sun rising under a flat layer and equal height of clouds it can dramatically light up the clouds. But, only for a short period of time. 5mins after this picture all was uniform grey

All the sunrise pictures are also hand held. I had limited time to get them without missing the actual sunrise, so even though I had my tripod with me, I didn't take the time to attach it.

Only editing I did on these Sunrise pictures was to straighten the horizon. All the colors are as seen in the camera.
