Don't let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself
It's always someone else I see
I'd just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
'Cos losing everything
Is like the sun going down on me

But you only need the light when it’s burning low
Only miss the sun, when it’s starts to snow
Only know you love her when you’ve let her go
Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low
Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home
Only know you love her when you’ve let her go

Looking for advice: when using long exposure to shoot waterfalls, rushing water etc, where do you place the focus? Even when shooting f22 with center focus, many of my shots look out of focus. How do I nail focus on these? Thanks for the help!

I found this guy flying over the lake, a foot caught on some long grass which was wet and dragging him down. He fell to the water once or twice, but got up again, flying with the extra weight hanging from his foot. I caught him, and carefully held him while untangling the grass from his foot. When I released him, he flew in a big circle around my kayak, as if to thank me, and it was then when I was able to take his photo.

Needed my tripod as have some motion blur on the lit windows and the edges of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.
Originally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.
First built to a height of 60 meters (197 feet) with five stories, it is now 64.5 meters (211.6 feet) high with an additional two stories. It was said that after that addition came the saying-'Saving a life exceeds building a seven-storied pagoda'. Externally it looks like a square cone, simple but grand and it is a masterpiece of Buddhist construction. Built of brick, its structure is very firm. Inside the pagoda, stairs twist up so that visitors can climb and overlook the panorama of the city from the arch-shaped doors on four sides of each storey. On the walls are engraved fine statues of Buddha by the renowned artist Yan Liben of the Tang Dynasty. Steles by noted calligraphers also grace the pagoda.
According to ancient stories of Buddhists, there were two branches, for one of which eating meat was not a taboo. One day, they couldn't find meat to buy. Upon seeing a group of big wild geese flying by, a monk said to himself: 'Today we have no meat. I hope the merciful Bodhisattva will give us some.' At that very moment, the leading wild goose broke its wings and fell to the ground. All the monks were startled and believed that Bodhisattva showed his spirit to order them to be more pious. They established a pagoda where the wild goose fell and stopped eating meat. Hence its name.

An "orchard of gold" from the Central Valley of California. The photo was taken between the towns of Sanger and Reedley which are located in Fresno County. Agriculture is the main industry of the Central Valley and stands in stark contrast to the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco. In 2014, Fresno County surpassed $7 Billion mark in gross value of all agricultural based commodities. Almonds, grapes, poultry and milk lead the agricultural values. In total Fresno County is home to 1.88 million acres of fertile farmland. Not only are the orchards beautiful during the fall, but are in full bloom during the spring.

I'll Go Too - Carrie Newcomer

When I was small I often said
There were ugly things beneath my bed
I'd slip downstairs when I got scared
To the safety of dad's easy chair

That chair was like a long deep sigh
And I'd stay until he'd say, "it's time"
But he always smiles and put his hand in mine
And say," I'll go too."

[Chorus]
"I'll go too, I'll go too"
That's what he'd say and what he'd do
"don't go alone I'll walk with you
I'll go too."

When I was learning how to swim
I'd look at the water and back at him
But he took my hand and said
"we'll both jump in"
And "I'll go too."

[Chorus]

So many nights I've wandered
So many things to brave
So many acts of courage
We face each and everyday

It was almost noon in a white lace dress
I had my doubts if I could do the rest
He said, "take my hand and just do your best"
"and I'll go too"

[Chorus]

So many nights I've wandered
So many things to brave
So many acts of courage
We face each and everyday

In a quiet place in the April snow
It was time to finally let her go
So I took his hand and said, "I know"
"I'll go too"

[Chorus]

Someday we all will understand
And we'll walk right into the promised land
But I hope an angel takes me by the hand
And tells me "I'll go too"

"I'll go too, I'll go too"
That's what he'd say and what she'll do
"don't go alone I'll walk with you
I'll go too."

Have been making Golden Rocky Mountain road trips over last several years. This is from the longer gravel road entrance to North Clear Creek Falls at the Rio Grande headwaters area. The bluff in the background is of volcanic origins and a similar stratum creates the vertical drop for the nearby falls. some post work to compensate for midday bright sun, also, used a low ISO and polarizing filter to start compensation.

Thinking of the cartoon series, "Gargoyles" and movie, "Hunchback of Notre Dame", this night shot made me think of gargoyles as living beings perched between heaven and earth to rescue mankind from itself. This was taken with a Sony Alpha58 DSLR, during a pre-cruise night walk near the University of Venice and Basilica Maria d' Salut, Basilica of Praise to Saint Mary, while trying to learn the capabilities of a new tech-toy. Found the in camera HDR process could produce interesting low light results.

In 2014, a large section of one of the major expressways that had been under construction for months, reopened to pedestrian traffic only. It was a big to do with many local and state dignitaries officiating. The public was allowed to walk on a two mile stretch of the refurbished freeway. Michigan's Governor lead the group. It was very fun and a wonderful experience. It's very commonplace in Michigan to have these walkabouts.
